Mustafa Suleyman

6 entries · March 2023 – August 2025

Mustafa Suleyman co-founded DeepMind in 2010 and, after leaving Google, the personal-chatbot start-up Inflection AI, most of whose team he brought to Microsoft in 2024 when he became chief executive of a new Microsoft AI division. There he oversees the company's consumer AI products, including its Copilot assistant. He has also become a prominent commentator on the technology's social effects, arguing in a 2025 essay that labs should deliberately design systems not to appear conscious, to head off unhealthy attachments and premature debates over AI rights. He reports to Satya Nadella and sits among the industry's more publicly reflective executives.
