Person
Satya Nadella
Satya Nadella is the chief executive of Microsoft, which under him made an early and large bet on OpenAI — a reported $10 billion investment in 2023 — and built the lab's models into products from Bing to its Copilot assistants. That partnership, renegotiated in 2025 and 2026 to be less exclusive, has been central to Microsoft's AI strategy, and the company reported its Azure AI cloud revenue passing $100 billion in 2026. Nadella has generally positioned Microsoft as a platform and infrastructure provider rather than a lab racing to build the most advanced model itself. He is widely credited with reviving the company's growth by reorienting it around cloud computing and, latterly, AI.
