Alexandr Wang

4 entries · June 2025 – April 2026

Alexandr Wang founded the data-labelling company Scale AI as a teenager after dropping out of MIT, building it into a key supplier of the human-annotated training data that frontier labs relied on. In June 2025 Meta paid $14.3 billion for a non-voting stake in Scale and hired Wang, then 28, as its first chief AI officer, and days later he was named to lead the new Meta Superintelligence Labs. His arrival reshaped Meta's AI effort around imported leadership, though the division saw job cuts and delayed model launches over the following year. He is among the youngest people to hold a role of this seniority at a major technology company.
