Sundar Pichai is the chief executive of Google and its parent company Alphabet, having risen through the company as the executive behind Chrome and Android before taking the top job in 2015. He has steered Google's response to the generative-AI wave, rebranding its chatbot as Gemini and pushing the technology across search and workplace products, at times amid stumbles such as the 2024 suspension of Gemini's image generation of people. In 2026, after Demis Hassabis stepped back, Google DeepMind's model development began reporting more directly to him.
