Mobile and on-device AI chip leader (Snapdragon) that in 2025 entered the data-centre market with the AI200 and AI250 inference accelerators.

1 entry · 27 October 2025

Qualcomm is a US chip company, founded in 1985 and based in San Diego, best known for the Snapdragon processors and modems inside much of the world's mobile hardware and for on-device AI. In October 2025 it moved into the data-centre AI market for the first time, announcing the AI200 and AI250 — rack-scale inference systems built around its Hexagon neural-processing cores — with the AI200 expected in 2026 and the AI250, using a near-memory design, in 2027. The move put it into direct competition with Nvidia and AMD for inference workloads, anchored initially by a deployment with the Saudi venture HUMAIN.
