Max Tegmark is a Swedish-American physicist, professor at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and co-founder and president of the Future of Life Institute, a non-profit focused on reducing catastrophic risks from advanced technologies. He is the author of "Life 3.0" and "Our Mathematical Universe", and the institute organised the 2023 open letter calling for a pause on large AI training runs.
