ByteDance unveiled Seed 2.1 at Volcano Engine’s FORCE conference, pitched as “a next-generation agent for real-world productivity” rather than a single chat model. It shipped as two closed-weight variants, Pro and Turbo, both with a 256K-token context window, aimed at multi-step workflows such as mobile GUI automation, document processing and end-to-end coding rather than isolated one-off queries.

ByteDance reported Pro scoring 87.9 on the GDPval agentic-work benchmark and 73.1 on MobileWorld, and said a preview build ranked eighth on Code Arena’s Frontend leaderboard. Pricing on Volcano Engine was set in yuan, with Pro at ¥6 per million input tokens and ¥30 per million output tokens, and Turbo roughly half that. Both models were available through the Doubao consumer app and the Volcano Engine API.
