NVIDIA reported revenue of $81.6 billion for its first fiscal quarter of 2027, covering February to April 2026, up 85% year-on-year and 20% on the prior quarter. Net income was $58.3 billion, more than triple the figure a year earlier. Data-centre revenue, the segment that captures AI-chip sales, reached $75.2 billion, up 92% year-on-year and 21% quarter-on-quarter.

Chief executive Jensen Huang described “the buildout of AI factories” as “the largest infrastructure expansion in human history,” and the company guided to $91 billion in revenue for the following quarter, above most analyst estimates going into the report. NVIDIA also announced an $80 billion increase to its share-buyback authorisation and raised its quarterly dividend from one cent to 25 cents per share, saying it returned $20 billion to shareholders in the quarter through buybacks and dividends combined.

Despite the results beating expectations on most metrics, NVIDIA’s stock fell in after-hours trading, a reaction commentators attributed to the scale of growth investors had already priced in after several consecutive quarters of triple-digit data-centre expansion. The quarter continued a run of results in which NVIDIA’s numbers functioned less as a company-specific data point than as the clearest available proxy for the pace of AI infrastructure spending across the industry.
