Person
Robin Li
Robin Li is the co-founder and chief executive of Baidu, the company that runs China's dominant search engine. He positioned Baidu early as an AI company, and in 2023 it became one of the first Chinese firms to launch a public generative chatbot, Ernie Bot, which it released after receiving regulatory approval and later upgraded to Ernie 4.0. Li has presented Baidu's models as competitive with leading Western systems, a claim independent observers have treated with caution given limited external benchmarking. He remains one of the central figures in China's AI industry.
