glm-5.2

7 entries · June 2026 – July 2026

GLM-5.2 was an open-weight, MIT-licensed model released in June 2026 by the Chinese lab Zhipu AI, a mixture-of-experts system with 744 billion total parameters and a one-million-token context window. Zhipu reported it as the highest-scoring open-weight model on Artificial Analysis's Intelligence Index at the time, competitive with US frontier models on long-horizon coding tasks at a fraction of the per-token cost. It landed a day after Washington ordered Anthropic's models offline for foreign users, and commentary framed openly licensed Chinese models — whose weights, once published, cannot be withdrawn from a jurisdiction — as a way around such access controls.
