Encode
Youth-led AI-policy advocacy group (formerly Encode Justice) that campaigns for AI regulation and intervened in the OpenAI restructuring and Musk litigation.
Encode is a US youth-led non-profit that campaigns on artificial-intelligence policy. It was founded in 2020 as Encode Justice by Sneha Revanur, then a high-school student in San Jose, to organise younger people around AI regulation, and later shortened its name to Encode. The group was among the civil-society backers of California's SB 1047 safety bill, and in late 2024 it sought to file an amicus brief supporting Elon Musk's bid to block OpenAI's conversion to a for-profit structure — arguing the change would weaken the mission of its founding charity. OpenAI implied the small group was funded by Musk, which Encode denied.
